Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, the Doctors at the BloorMill Veterinary Hospital stress the importance of the Annual Physical Examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help identify problems early and alleviate or avoid more serious health issues later. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for your pets' complete health care needs. Some of the many services we offer and diseases we manage include:


Allergy control (ex. food, environmental, parasitic, etc)
Pain management (including multi-modal)
Diseases of internal organs (ex. liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen)
Immune system diseases (ex. "autoimmune diseases" such as hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, polyarthritis & glomerulonephritis)
Neoplastic Diseases (ex lymphoma, leukemia. hemangiosarcoma, mast cell tumors, etc)
Eye Disease (ex. ulcers, dry-eye, glaucoma, uveitis, etc)

Vaccinations: Individually tailored vaccine programs or antibody titre testing

Parasite Control: External parasite (Flea, tick, lice, sarcoptic mites, demodectic mites, ear mites) & internal parasite control including heartworm and intestinal parasites.

Surgical Services: Our fully equipped surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. From Spays and Neuters to Bladder surgery, Eye surgery, Skin surgery, Intestinal Exploratories and Orthopedic Procedures - we do it all. And, if the procedure is beyond our expertise, we will use our excellent working relationships with local specialists to refer you.

Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Typically, our anaesthetized patients are monitored with the following: Capnograph (measures expired carbon dioxide and breaths), Apnea alarm (alarms if breathing stops), Pulse Oximetry (measures Oxygen levels in the blood), Scrolling EKG (measures electrical activity of the heart), Blood Pressures (using a Oscillometric Cardell Blood Pressure unit), Thermometer (keeping the patient warm is critical to success) and of course a dedicated technician monitoring other parameters (like depth of anesthesia, pulse pressures, etc) continuously throughout.

Radiology Services: Our on-site X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. In addition, we are proud to have a Dental X-ray machine in our facilities.

Ultrasound Services: Performed at our hospital by specialists.

Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site.

Blood Pressure Measurement and Monitoring via Oscillometric

Dentistry: Our dental services include thorough and Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Therapy (COHAT) procedures. Teeth cleaning and polishing, dental extractions and oral surgery are all provided as necessary. More complicated dentistry including orthodontics and endodontics can be arranged by referral to a dental specialist.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for cytology, urinalysis, blood and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics (including hematology, serum biochemistry, cytology and histopathology) and consultations.

Permanent Identification: We offer microchip identification.

Pharmacy: We maintain an extensive inventory of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, conditioners, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. Drug compounding services also available which can make most drugs into transdermal gels, tasty treats, capsules, liquids or pills.

Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight loss, weight maintenance and performance. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. Referrals to behavioural specialists may be arranged for the more difficult cases.

Cat Boarding: We provide cat boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Pet Loss Support:  Grief counseling, Compassionate and caring Euthanasia, Care of Remains

Referrals: We have a good working relationship with numerous specialists who help us with the diagnosis and/or treatment of the more complicated cases (ex Radiation or Chemotherapy, Neurosurery, certain Orthopedic Surgery, CT scans or MRIs). We also consult with world renowned experts via VIN (Veterinary Information Network).
